# USB Serial to RS-485 converter

This project is a board that converts USB serial communications to
RS-485. An FT232 device is connected to a MAX483 RS-485 transciever
which allows for a longer distance multidrop communications bus.

The schematic is based on the example shown in the FT232 datasheet.

## Notes

Manufactured by SeeedStudio Aug 2017. Board is fine except the mounting
holes in the USB micro connector footprint have been plated (they are
correctly marked as unplated). This allows the shell to short with Vcc
so it was necessary to lightly drill the holes to disconnect them from
copper on both top and bottom.
